SINGLE FOCUS LENS

The single-lens, or single-lens, has the same correction power over its entire surface. It can be used for a simple vision correction, such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia.

There are two types of single focus lenses:

  • Spherical surface – suitable for everyone.
  • Aspherical surface (better aesthetics and quality of vision) – highly recommended for those who require high correction.

Multifocal lenses do not have the same surface correction power. The correction force changes progressively from the top of the lens to the bottom of the lens. The result is to have a lens with different correction forces, so that we can see at all distances (Far – Medium – Near).

We can also have a corresponding lens with the multifocal one, but without the corrective power for long distances. So we will have a lens for Medium – Close work. They are usually used by people who do office work

COATINGS

It is a treatment that is done on the ocular lenses to make them clearer and clearer. Each coating that enters the ophthalmic lens, gives it an extra property. The coatings are as follows:

  • Anti-scratch coatings : They are made to make the lens more difficult to scratch.
  • Anti-reflective Coatings : Reduce the reflection of light on the lens and provide more comfortable vision even at night.
  • Hydrophobic and Lipophobic Coatings: They make the lens harder to get dirty but also easier to clean, giving clearer vision.
  • Antistatic Coatings : Do not allow dust to stick to the lens resulting in a very clear lens both visually and aesthetically.
  • Coatings for Protection from UV Radiation : They are to reflect UV radiation, giving the lens extra radiation protection.
  • Coatings for Blue Radiation : Blue Radiation is a part of the radiation we receive and is more harmful than UV and in the long run causes damage to the retina of our eye. The most common sources of blue radiation are the Sun, computer screens, mobile phones and generally any LED light source. So these coatings reflect some of the blue light to protect our eyes.

The more coatings an ophthalmic lens has, the better for our eyes and for an aesthetic result.
